We're very excited about the upcoming opening reception at Swoon, for what will be one of the grandest sets of shows yet! Please join us Saturday, August 4th from 2 - 5pm as we celebrate the openings of our August featured artists:
The four shows that are opening at this time are:
"Open Air" - this is a juried group show of paintings done en plein air (meaning completed outside). The response to this call for submissions was fantastic and it was difficult to narrow down the selection.
The show includes 60 pieces by 31 artists: Fabien Barabe, Flora Doehler, Anne Johnston, Annette Henderson, Carol Morrison, Colleen Galloway, Debbie Lamey-Macdonald, Colleen Underwood, Deborah Sweet, Denise Lanterman, Diane Fralich, Evgenia Makogon, Helen Opie, Bob Morouney, Andrea Pottyondy, Sarah Jane Conklin, Geoffrey Grantham, Suzanne Hastings-James, Isao Sanami Morrill, Susan Vitale, Jake Seibert, Judy MacIntosh, Kathryn Reith Blake, Laurel Haslett, Patricia Lindley, Rachael Peters, Robyn Howell, Rosemary Clark Young, Louise Schellenberg, Sandra Schwartz, and Rae Smith.
"Carvings" - recent carved, sculptural pieces by Ralph Pardy
"Gemini and Beyond" - a show of new abstract paintings by Anna Horsnell Wade
and
"Get Better" - a collaboration by SEVEN which is a collective of artists from rural NS. This show consists of works in a variety of media inspired by a poem titled "Get Better" by member poet Kelly Marie Redcliffe.
Shows run until September 1st and images on works in the shows will be posted on our website in the week following the opening reception.
During the opening we will also be having the book launch for "What If Michelangelo Was A Telemarketer". This is a humorous, illustrated, rhyming storybook by Susan Paczek. Copies of the book will be available at Swoon for $10 each.
We're also pleased to announce that Edible Matters is now open, to rave reviews, at 1345 Hammonds Plains Road. Now when we get asked if there's a good coffee place or restaurant nearby, we can finally say yes!
